When Android L becomes available properly in the Autumn it will usher in a whole new UI style for the OS.
Known as Material Design, the new UI unifies design across all of Google’s apps, and is bold and graphic, and though it is flat it is also layered to add hierarchy to functions within apps.
All of Google’s apps will be updated to conform to this new look, and the Play Store looks set to be the first of them. A new Material-inspired version of the app for Android devices is beginning its rollout from today.
It’s a phased rollout, so it may take as much as a couple of weeks before you get it on your device. The update, when it’s ready will happen automatically, but you can check for updates manually by opening the Play Store app, going to Settings and tapping on Build version.
